Permissions.
We don't roast permission choices. We just say what stops working.
Every permission, in one table
Nine prompts. One is required.
Only Screen Time is required — without it the app cannot restrict anything and there is no product. Everything else is a rule you might not use, and refusing it costs you that rule and nothing else.
Changing your mind
Every one of these is revocable in iOS Settings at any time, and we never re-ask after a refusal. Turning one off removes the rules that needed it and leaves everything else working — nothing breaks and nothing nags.
On a child’s account
A child does get location, because TOUCH GRASS and GO would not work without it — and those are two of the rules a child is most likely to use. It is the same check as an adult’s: one reading, at one moment, to answer whether they are past the home boundary or at the place they chose. No route, no history, no background tracking, and a parent is never shown where their child was — only that the rule completed.
SHOW UP is the exception: it is off for child accounts. A venue is a commercial third party, a check-in is attributed to it, and a child should not be sent to a business to unlock a phone. Screen Time is granted by the parent through Family Sharing.

What never needs permission
Phone calls, messages, Maps and emergency services are never restricted by any rule, so they need no exception and no permission. The emergency override works offline with nothing granted.
Still stuck?
Two rules need no permission at all
ONE THING and TIME ask nothing of your phone. ONE THING runs on your word — you said you would make the bed, and we believe you. TIME reads the clock. So if you refuse every permission on this page, you still have two working rules, and the app is still the app.
